Chlotrudis Tuesday Night at the Movies + Indie Film Round-Up, January 25 - 31
Hello, Chlotrudis Members!
It's a new year with new movies, so let's dive in feet first to something that's sure to be something to talk about. Mitchell Lichtenstein, who many of you may remember as the boyfriend in Ang Lee's THE WEDDING BANQUET, has written and directed his first feature narrative, and it's quite an interesting premise. TEETH takes a satirical look at what might happen if a young woman discovered she really did have a set of teeth in her vagina. Join us on Tuesday, January 29 for the 7 p.m. screening at the Kendall Square Cinema

High school student Dawn (Jess Weixler) works hard at suppressing her budding sexuality by being the local chastity group's most active participant. Her task is made even more difficult by her bad boy stepbrother Brad's ( John Hensley) increasingly provocative behavior at home. A stranger to her own body, innocent Dawn discovers she has a toothed vagina when she becomes the object of violence. As she struggles to comprehend her anatomical uniqueness, Dawn experiences both the pitfalls and the power of being a living example of the vagina dentata myth. Written and directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein.
Director: Mitchell Lichtenstein
Cast: Jess Weixler, John Hensley, Josh Pais, Hale Appleman, Lenny von Dohlen, Vivienne Benesch, Ashley Springer, Julia Garro, Nicole Swahn, Adam Wagner
Fans of the little-seen DEMONLOVER (like me) will want to check out director Olivier Assayas' latest film, BOARDING GATE, when he presents it in person at the Harvard Film Archive on Monday, January 28. The HFA is presenting an entire series on the French director, including the aforementioned thriller DEMONLOVER, which plays on Saturday night. BOARDING GATE stars Asia Argento and Michael Madsen in an icy thriller that is a mix of Hong Kong funk and Eurocool.
That's it for now... sorry for this entries brevity and tardiness. I succumbed to the flu this week and it was not fun at all. Glad to be feeling a little better!
See you at the movies!
