1995, 1st Annual Awards

Best Movie

Winner! The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - For the First Annual Chlotrudis Awards we did not have a nominating committee, and the entire voting body also nominated. The results were more mainstream than the awards have becomes in recent years. Still, it was that fun Australian flick, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, that squeezed past Pulp Fiction to take the Best Movie award.

also nominated: Bullets Over Broadway, Little Women, Pulp Fiction, Vanya on 42nd Street

Best Actress

Winner! Judy Davis for the roles of Katherine Witner in The New Age and Caroline Chasseur in The Ref - What a thrill for my favorite actress, Judy Davis, to win the best actress award in the Chlotrudis Awards' first year. Her annoying hostage in The Ref coupled with the California socialite searching for a better way of life in The New Age allowed her to beat out her closest competition in Kathleen Turner.

also nominated: Linda Fiorentino for the role of Bridget Gregory/Wendy Kroy in The Last Seduction, Gong Li for the role of Jiazhen in To Live, Julianne Moore for the role of Yelena in Vanya on 42nd Street, Winona Ryder for the role of Jo March in Little Women, Kathleen Turner for the role of Beverly Sutphin in Serial Mom

Best Actor - It's a Tie!

Winner! Morgan Freeman for the role of Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding in The Shawshank Redemption and Wallace Shawn for the role of Vanya in Vanya on 42nd Street A most unusual tie emerged for best actor for year one at the Chlotrudis Awards. Morgan Freeman's sage prisoner in The Shawshank Redemption, and the powerful title role in Vanya on 42nd Street, expertly played by Wallace Shawn.

also nominated: Tom Hanks for the role of Forrest Gump in Forrest Gump, Samuel L. Jackson for the role of Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction, Tim Robbins for the role of Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption

Best Supporting Actress

Winner!Dianne Wiest for the role of Helen Sinclair in Bullets Over Broadway Dianne Wiest was brilliant as Helen Sinclair in Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway, and well deserving of both the Chlotrudis Award and the Academy Award. Still, she only narrowly took this award from Kirsten Dunst by a single vote.

also nominated: Kirsten Dunst for the roles of Claudia in Interview With the Vampire and Amy March, age 10 in Little Women, Sarah Peirse for the role of Honora Parker in Heavenly Creatures, Brooke Smith for the role of Sonya in Vanya on 42nd Street, Kristin Scott Thomas for the role of Fiona in Four Weddings and a Funeral, Uma Thurman for the role of MIA Wallace in Pulp Fiction

Best Supporting Actor

Winner!Gary Sinise for the role of Lieutenant Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump Another close race here, between Gary Sinise, John Turturro, and Terrence Stamp, with Gary scoring the award.

also nominated: Samuel L. Jackson for the role of Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction, Terrence Stamp for the role of Bernadette in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, John Turturro for the role of Herbie Stempel in Quiz Show, Bruce Willis for the roles of Butch Coolidge in Pulp Fiction and Carl Roebuck in Nobody's Fool
